LCD holder to fit the Zalman Z11 PC case
thingiverse
My PC is housed in a Zalman Z11 plus, and the case itself is truly exceptional. However, I wanted to display the temperature readings at both the top and bottom of the case, as well as the average temperature within the case. So, I decided to create a custom setup using an Arduino Nano, a 16X2 LCD display, and two LM35DZ temperature sensors. This is the surround that fits snugly into the smaller hole on the 5" bay covers. The surround matches perfectly with the LCD display but could benefit from a dab of hot glue for added security. I've also included the original file for SketchUp 2015, so feel free to modify and tweak it as you see fit. The surround simply snaps into place using the tabs that were originally used by the panel. If you're interested in viewing the code, just ask in the comments and I'll be happy to provide a link. Now, about the code itself: it displays the temperature readings at both the top and bottom of the case, as well as the average between the two. It also controls the fans within the case using PWM signals and a transistor, so as the temperature rises, the fan speed increases accordingly. The fan speed is displayed as a percentage, and there's even a graph to represent the temperature readings - although I may replace this with a graph of the fan RPM instead. Originally, I had planned to use an Arduino Mega clone that was lying around, but I decided on using a Nano instead due to its compact form factor.
