The iconic London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) E2 Class took shape under Lawson Billinton's design expertise, purpose-built to tackle shunting duties and short-haul freight runs with ease. Between 1913 and 1916, a total of ten units were brought into service, all of which met their demise between 1961 and 1963 as they were retired from operation and subsequently scrapped. Despite their eventual fate, these locomotives left an indelible mark on railway history, serving as the inspiration behind the beloved Thomas The Tank Engine character.
