Lazymans Box the Storage Chest Edition
cults3d
The "Lazymans Box" is a system that makes it easy to make a Storage Box or Chest. This Edition stands on it's own, but is compatible with the original "Lazymans Box". The Idea is that you can make it the size you want by scaling the length of certain parts. The file names of the parts that are scalable are "SIDE 4mm depth12mm.stl" and "LID side 4mm depth12mm.stl". In the Photo section I added an Image that shows how these parts look. Also I added a Screen Shot of Cura, to give you an better idea. The length of these parts will determine how big the Chest will be. Then you can print some corners to connect these parts together to create the Chest. The Sides are 4mm Multiplex (in my Example) that slot into the printed “SIDE 4mm depth10mm.stl" and "LID side 4mm depth12mm.stl" parts. Of course you can use any other kind of material that is 4 mm thick. The 4mm Panel (Multiplex in my case) slots 12mm deep into the printed parts. This makes that the Panels do not have to be sawed super precise to make a nice finish. In the Photo section you can see an example of an fully assembled box. The lengths of parts “SIDE 4mm depth10mm.stl" and "LID side 4mm depth12mm.stl" are 200mm and 100mm. The overall size of the Chest are 152,5mm x 246mm and 126mm high. I Laser Engraved the wood but of course that is not necessary. The Handle is Designed to lay flat with the Corners. This way it is possible to stack another box on top without it wobbling :-). The Handle is mounted with 2 M3x20mm Bolts that are just treaded into the plastic. For people who want a stronger handle, I added an second Option. Please see files “HANDLE Big partA.stl” and “HANDLE Big partB”. Note that this bigger handle will stick out higher than the Corners. To hold the Lid in a Open position you can use the “Lid open holder” part. This parts consists out of 4 parts that are printed as one. After the print is done, you can carefully break the lose, so the individually parts can move freely. To make this Chest (the way on the Pictures) you need to print: 8x CORNER cap.stl, 4x CORNER,stl, 1x HANDLE partA.stl, 2x HANDLE partB.stl, 1x HINGE L1 4mm depth12mm.stl, 1x HINGE L2 4mm depth12mm.stl, 1x HINGE R1 4mm depth12mm.stl, 1x HINGE R2 4mm depth12mm.stl, 1x LID open holder.stl, 4x LID side 4mm depth12mm.stl (Y=100mm), 4x LID side 4mm depth12mm.stl (Y=200mm), 1x LOCK partA.stl, 1x LOCK partB.stl, 1x LOCK partC.stl, 1x LOCK partD.stl, 4x SIDE 4mm depth12mm (Y=100mm). 4x SIDE 4mm depth12mm (Y=200mm). Next to the printed parts you also need: 1x M3x38mm Bolt & nut, 1x M3x26mm Bolt & nut, 12x M3x10mm Bolt & nut, 2x M3x20mm Bolt, (if you use the Big Handle, Nuts are also needed) 2x M3x30mm Bolt & Nut. I also added an 3mf and obj File that are showing the parts assembled in 3D. These files are meant to give you an even better idea how the parts come together. If you have questions, feel free to ask :-)
