This system allows you to create boxes, suitcases, and chests easily by printing 4 corners and 12 sides, then inserting panels of your choice. These panels can be made from any material and glued together for added strength. I used acrylic panels in one example to create a transparent box that protects a Buddha statue without gluing the box in place, so I can remove it as needed. The box's size is determined by the length of the sides, which can be scaled in software to fit any dimension. There are two side sizes: 2mm and 4mm thick. In my example with the Buddha statue, I used the 4mm side and corner parts, then scaled them down to 50% to make space for a 2mm acrylic plate. After that, I scaled the sides to the length I needed. To add a lid to your box, you can use hinges attached to corners and sides. You'll also need bolts and nuts. My photos show examples of boxes with 4mm plywood, 2mm acrylic, and mixed-material sides (with an aluminum top that required shimming). The included Shim allows for smooth lid operation. Take a look at the screen shot to see how the parts fit together. A lock mechanism is also included, which requires a bolt, nut, and printed parts. It's mounted to the box with M4 bolts and nuts in the examples shown. Extra hinges are provided to strengthen the hinge part of your box. You can also attach a handle to make it easier to carry your creation. This handle consists of three printed parts, two bolts, and two nuts. Another optional component is "LID open holder.stl," which holds the lid in an open position using pivot points. Print these freely movable. These examples were created with black PLA at 0.2mm resolution and a 0.4mm nozzle.
