lazy susan with auto stop
thingiverse
This project is still in development, and details are subject to change - I'll make sure to keep everyone updated whenever something changes. When printing with a full spool on a lazy Susan, the machine has quite a bit of inertia, which causes it to want to keep spinning and ejecting filament - this is not ideal at all! The goal here is to design the system so that as the extruder stops pulling filament, the tension on the arm relaxes and triggers a stop mechanism on the rotor of the platter, effectively halting its rotation until the extruder starts pulling filament again and releases the arm from the rotor. A small upstand on the base holds a spring that keeps pushing the arm into the platter, ensuring it engages properly. Feel free to point out anything that needs improvement or adjustment.
