Thanks.*** http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1088024 This is an OpenSCAD file for making a spool holder out of a Lazy Susan bearing. The tri-slot center is designed so that you can fit multiple custom spool adapters if you swap between different brands of filaments. I had decided to design this after reading an Instructible about using a Target Lazy Susan spice tray as a spool holder... http://www.instructables.com/id/The-10-10-minute-Filament-Holder/ Unfortunately I encountered (and thought of) several problems: * At $10, (update, it's now up to $15!) it was quite expensive * My local Target didn't have that tray in stock. (http://www.target.com/p/chefs-tool-crock-oak-turntable-lazy-susan/-/A-16943689#prodSlot=medium_1_2 ) * It wasn't guaranteed to fit perfectly like that every time for the many different spools out there. * There is no way to center the filament spool on the wooden disk. However, the current stl on this "thing" is for a 4-inch bearing purchased at ACE Hardware. It cost me around $5 and it was in stock at a store near my workplace. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3463597 With ABS I had to scale by 1% (1.01 multiplier) because of shrinkage. (TODO: Due to the difficulty of making this align with the bearing, I need to re-release this again with a slotted screw hole for "fudging" the tolerances. Note: Carefully rotate/align the nut traps.) The screws and nuts are typical m4 hardware. The .scad file is provided for you to customize for your spools and bearings! I highly recommend AGAINST printing these pre-compiled stls!
