I adore the original design, but it presented several challenges when printing. The threads for my centerpiece often wouldn't fit properly, and the main piece had to be printed right side up. Not to mention I broke countless centerpieces while attempting to remove them from the printer. After posting about a portion of it on Reddit, one user kindly redesigned it. I requested that this user share their revised design here, but they suggested I try it out, make any necessary adjustments, and then post it myself. Here is a fully modular version of the Lazy Kate by mribble. The tension pieces are removable, eliminating concerns about snapping them off or having to deal with oversized bobbins. The centerpiece is now divided into two separate parts. There are two versions available: one features an X-shape similar to the original (not shown in my pictures), while the other boasts a slightly smaller rounded design. Two additional pieces can be used to convert this Lazy Kate into a cake holder. The taller piece fits bobbin-sized center stems, whereas the shorter piece accommodates smaller sized center stems or even broken pieces – like the one I'm guilty of breaking. I strongly recommend printing the center stems with supports. My initial attempts at printing them upright were unsuccessful, but printing them lying down with supports proved to be a game-changer in terms of filament and time savings. For some reason, the threads work better for me when printed upside down. Therefore, I suggest printing the threaded centerpiece with its head facing upwards. This design is identical in size to mribble's original version, so if you already have those pieces, these new ones are fully interchangeable. I hope you enjoy this revised design! If anything needs tweaking, please don't hesitate to let me know.
