Lay-Flat Pasta Gauge

Lay-Flat Pasta Gauge

thingiverse

A buddy requested a pasta gauge similar to one she had spotted, and it sounded like something Thingiverse would already have in store, so we took a closer look. Sure enough, there were many options available, but only one flat-laying, drop-in measuring tool of the type she was after. That particular model (from @Engineer89) looked fantastic, though I wanted to make a few tweaks before printing it out. I pulled the STL into Blender where I made a batch of adjustments… * It's just a tad too big for my mini printer if I were to add a brim. * I nixed the 3portion section, keeping only the half, one and two portion options which still covers many scenarios. (Also: 3 = 2+1) * I simplified the mesh * I chamfered all the edges, but kept the bottom corners at 90 degrees. * I added a fillet to the divider-to-base joints for some extra strength * I added the portion texts. Pretty obvious, but fun to have there. * I added a hanging hole, just in case you want to display it. * I added flanges on either side for more handling and hold-down options while filling and measuring. The measured portion sizes of the original piece saved me from figuring those out from scratch - so definitely some value in remixing rather than having to cook a bunch of pasta.
