lawn tractor - gear for starter motor
thingiverse
While cutting my lawn, the mower (Toro) failed to start after a short break. The free-spinning gear of the starter motor had become completely worn out. The replacement part was available for order, but it would take several days to arrive, and I wanted to finish cutting the grass before tomorrow's rain hit. So I designed this gear in the evening, printed it in the morning, and successfully reassembled the starter motor by afternoon, completing my lawn-cutting task. The engine itself is a Briggs&Stratton - so the gear for the starter-motor may fit with other brands. My goal was to get the job done as quickly as possible. Design Specifications: Thread count: 16 Diameter: 41mm Height: 11mm Printed using 100% infill in PLA, which I had not tried before - ABS and nylon might have lasted longer. It did its job today but I don't think it will last long, so I've ordered a spare part - not taking any chances now that all the grass is cut. Printing Details: Raft: None Supports: None Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 100 How I Made It: Designed using FreeCAD and added to this file
