Lavinia Agache (-Carney), a retired Romanian gymnast born on February 11, 1968, in Căiuţi, Bacău, had an illustrious senior career, racking up 10 medals at top international events. She led her team to gold at the 1984 Olympics and secured silver at the 1983 Worlds. Individually, she took home a bronze medal on vault at the Olympics, three medals at the 1983 Worlds (silver on vault and uneven bars, and bronze on beam), and four medals at the 1983 European Championships (gold on beam, silver all around and uneven bars, and bronze on vault).\r\nThis sculpture honors an ever-growing series of bronze busts outside The School of Gymnastics in Deva, Romania. Each bust features an athlete who represented Romania since the 1978 Montreal Olympics. The series pays tribute to female artistic gymnasts' strength and success worldwide. Nadia Comaneci's legendary gymnastics school is coached by Marta and Bela Karoly. Renamed as The Cetate Deva National Sports college in 2003, it focuses on female athletics.\r\nThis object is part of "Scan The World".
