Laundry Basket Handle (Ikea Torkis)

Laundry Basket Handle (Ikea Torkis)

thingiverse

This is a design for repairing snapped handles on the Ikea Torkis laundry basket, created by a beginner 3d printer user. The idea was born out of necessity and a desire to keep waste out of landfills. This repair kit works when the old handle breaks near the edge, allowing it to fit inside the new one. You'll need two self-tapping wood screws that are long enough for the job. Please note that these handles will only be cost-effective if you already have access to a 3d printer without extra costs. The main goal here is to save you from taking an unnecessary trip to Ikea and reducing waste sent to landfills. When attaching the new handle, do not overtighten the screws as this can cause them to crack. Stop tightening once they hit the plastic part. The design has a challenging overhang at the start that could be improved upon. More space is needed in the cut-outs at the bottom of the handle for easier installation without damaging the lower part.
