IDEA One of the biggest factors influencing consumer 3D printing is time. Printing a toy often takes a day. Although we all enjoy watching the machine render, I wanted to create something that's fast and easy to print for anyone, and also fun to assemble. Realizing that most of us in the 3D printing community still have an FDM printer at home, I thought we could get more out of the filament itself. What if we only printed joints for the filament to build anything we want? Is there already something like this available? DEVELOPMENT The main goal was taking advantage of the springiness and flexibility of the filament. PLA has very good properties for this. After a few iterations, the first catapult was made, and I'm really excited about what else could be developed. INSTRUCTIONS In the image section, there is a step-by-step guide on how to assemble the filament catapult. Only a few tools are needed: a ruler and pliers. The five filament pieces and six printed parts/joints can be put together in about 5-10 minutes. Happy ejection!
