The VOG-17 was specifically designed as a high-powered ammunition cartridge for the automatic grenade launcher AGS-17, developed by the Research and Production Association 'Basalt' in the late 1960s. The mechanical fuzes for both VOG-17 and VOG-30 were engineered by the skilled technicians at the Research Institute of Technology in Balashikha, who also implemented key modifications to enhance their performance.
