LAUNCH-ABLE 3-D PRINTED ROCKET
thingiverse
This is a launch-able 3-D printed rocket that I designed and built myself. I wanted to create a real rocket that could actually take off, so I set out to design one from scratch. To build it, you'll need to print each piece separately and then epoxy them together. Once the pieces are assembled, attach a shock cord to the inside of the body tube and tie it to the slot in the nose cone. You should also tie the parachute to the nose cone for added stability. To prepare the rocket for launch, pack some flame-retardant paper into the body tube and insert the parachute. I highly recommend using an A8-3 Estes engine for your first flight - it's a great choice that will get you started with flying high! With this engine, the rocket should reach heights of around 600 feet. If you're feeling more adventurous, you can try using a C6-5 Estes engine instead, which will take the rocket even higher - up to 1000 feet! One of the best things about this rocket is that it's incredibly durable and can withstand even the highest speeds without losing control. And when the flight is over, simply retrieve the rocket and use it again and again. This design is perfect for launching from a 1/8" launch lug, which will ensure a smooth and straight flight. Feel free to comment or ask any questions you may have about this rocket - I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for checking out my project, and I hope you enjoy building and flying it as much as I did. Files Updated! * 3/11/16: Files updated and better oriented for improved print quality. * 3/29/16: Added a new file that shows the nose cone cut in half - this will make printing and assembly easier, and the resulting rocket will be even stronger. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Robo 3D Printer: R1 PLA Model Resolution: ≤ 200 microns Infill: 20% Notes: Be sure to use supports on the nose cone if you want a more rounded shape - otherwise, it may come out flat. How I Designed This Rocket I would love for someone with access to a 3D printer to make some edits or modifications to this design. Unfortunately, I don't have one myself, but I'd be grateful if someone could print out a copy of the rocket for me. If you're interested in helping out, please email me at kylefenn1@outlook.com.
