The Latécoère 290 was France's premier torpedo bomber floatplane of the 1930s. Conceived by Latécoère in direct response to an Aéronavale call for a specialized aircraft, the 290 drew heavily from its award-winning Laté 28.3 mail plane. Featuring a classic high-wing design with a sturdy strut-braced monoplane structure, it carried a single torpedo under its fuselage with ease and precision.
