Lattice Bell Ornament with print in place clapper mechanism
myminifactory
Want a way to test/torture your printer this holiday season, then this ornament might be right for you. In addition to the latice outer stucture, this bell features a print in place hinge which allows the clapper mechanism on the bell to work. Inside of the standard version of the bell's clapper there is a hollow chmber which I designed to place a small jingle bell inside during the print. This chamber is 10mm in diameter, which will shrink a little depending on the printer. The bells I use for this are 6mm in diameter. In addition to the version with the chamber for the jingle bell I have a solid version of the design for people who want to omit the jingle bell and those who use resin printers. The braced versions of the files have a small inner brace structure used to help prevent the clapper from breaking free from the bed during printing. This structure can easily be removed after the print finishes with a pair of flush cutters. This brace structure greatly increased my print success rate and I highly recomend at least starting this version. This brace system also helps prevent the clapper from breaking off when the print is removed from the bed. Once the brace structure is removed and the hinge is worked free, the clapper should drop down to allow the clapper to hang slightly lower than the rim of the bell. I hope you enjoy printing this ornament this holiday season.
