Lathe Tailstock DRO
thingiverse
This digital display shows the tailstock ram position on a lathe, built using a cost-effective carbon-fiber digital caliper. The caliper's body bracket serves as a complete replacement for the original part, attaching securely to the front of the tailstock via powerful magnets. The other component wraps around the tailstock ram, specifically designed to accommodate my 1.25" diameter MT2 ram which retracts significantly before releasing the drill bit. As such, the clamp requires minimal contact with the ram to secure effectively. To integrate the caliper, I trimmed off the jaw end (making a plastic one suitable) and then used an M5 screw to fasten it securely to the ram clamp.
