This is a stepper drive on a Delta wood lathe, specifically designed to handle the lower torque requirements of a router attached to the machine. The retrofitting process necessitated a reduction in torque to accommodate the new tooling. The lathe spindle features 1" - 8 threads per inch and an MT2 interface, allowing for secure attachment of workpieces from the outside while driving the spindle from its internal threads. I'm presenting two potential solutions to this unique configuration: one featuring a single pulley with integrated threads, and another utilizing a separate nut paired with a pulley. Initially, I considered the threaded pulley option but worried about thread loosening over time, leading me to design the nut & pulley combination as a more reliable alternative.
