The lathe is a fantastic tool for slow-speed, low-heat sanding that minimizes the risk of melting plastic. I also use it to sand sculpted spoons efficiently. This adapter attaches to 1" x 8 TPI lathe spindles and allows old 5" sanding discs to be mounted. A smaller, undersized 4.5" version is included as well. As a bonus, a new 1x10tpi STL file has been added upon request. Combine this adapter with a plywood circle, Velcro, and you'll have a semi-hard sanding surface. Use a mousepad, Velcro, and you'll get a squishy sanding surface - my personal favorite. For convex surfaces, a soft density foam interface pad works exceptionally well. This design prints very smoothly. If there are any boogers in the threads, a 1 x 8 TPI tap (used for tapping wood) can be used to clean them out quickly. Printing Notes: * Higher resolution will yield better thread quality. I achieved good results with 0.1mm. * PLA works wonderfully! AmazonBasics is an excellent choice, and I've had great experiences with it. * Reinforce the top, bottom, and walls, then reduce infill density for optimal results.
