In this innovative project, I showcase a customized CNC table for lathes, showcasing an intelligent design that seamlessly integrates with existing lathe beds. By clamping onto the bed instead of modifying the lathe itself, this two-axis CNC system sidesteps the typical removal of the z-axis lead screw and its inherent loss of precision in thread cutting capabilities. Additionally, it eliminates the need to machine the underside of the cross slide to accommodate the ball screw and nut, resulting in a streamlined setup process.
