Lathe Carriage Autostop

Lathe Carriage Autostop

This is a custom-designed switch mount for a Mini Lathe, equipped with an auto-stop feature (as shown in the second photo). Although it may have limited use to others due to its specific application, this switch mount offers a spring-loaded clamping effect that ensures a firm hold and simple adjustments. The accompanying photos display failed prints but effectively demonstrate the assembly process; unfortunately, the actual product's quality surpasses these images since they were taken before final assembly. To assemble, print both parts, insert a 2.5-inch 8-32 machine screw into the smaller part (using epoxy for thread locking). Trim the screw head and guide it through the larger part's hole, aligning the "tab" with the "slot." Place a spring over the exposed threads and fasten a nut to secure. Adjust the nut for optimal holding force, trimming extra threads if necessary. Lastly, mount the switch using 1/2-inch 4-40 screws and blind nuts.
