We designed these components as part of a braking system to secure the lift in position while we're docked with the lander. The brake carriage features a compartment for the rack brake piece, which comes into contact with the lift. It also includes a slot for the cam to rotate freely within it. Power is supplied by a Hitec servo motor, which has the cam attached to its end. As the servo operates, it causes the cam to turn, resulting in the carriage with the rack brake moving directly towards (locking) or away from (unlocks) the lift.
