My dad requested that I create a replacement latch plate template for his Irwin Door Lock Installation Kit, which had gone missing. As no suitable model was available on Thingiverse, I quickly designed one and made it available to him. To ensure the printed part would be as strong as possible, I set my infill at 100% and chose ABS filament over other options. The use of a router bit in conjunction with this lock always seemed like a compelling argument for manufacturing the latch plate from metal, rather than relying on plastic prints. With that goal in mind, I adjusted my print settings to achieve optimal adhesion between layers by printing slowly at 50mm/s.
