LaserSaber
thingiverse
A laser saber sounds like a more viable option, considering we're still a ways off from getting our hands on one of those sleek lightsabers everyone loves talking about. Clearly, it was modeled after that concept. Check out some extra pics at http://imkovb.blogspot.nl/2015/12/laser-saber.html if you want to see more. To get the job done, print all the STL's and add in a laser module along with a few small screws. I even printed one using Glow-in-the-Dark filament for some pretty sweet "special effects". Printing can be done without support material, but I recommend using a brim to make sure it comes out smooth.
