Lasercutter Raster/Vector Settings Checker + Kerf Tester

Lasercutter Raster/Vector Settings Checker + Kerf Tester

thingiverse

This test jig makes it simple to adjust your raster and vector mode settings when experimenting with new materials or thicknesses on the laser cutter. You also have the convenience of easily checking the kerf - the amount of material the laser cuts away in a single pass - by measuring the caliper either inside the 1/4-inch hole or on the adjacent 1/4-inch tab, both of which should be exactly 0.25 inches wide. Measuring deviations from this 1/4-inch standard will provide an accurate representation of the kerf value. With a rough calibration method and calipers that may not be very accurate, making small errors in measurements can become magnified by doubling it to account for two times the kerf value. By doing this you'll end up with more accurate calculations from the outset.
