Lasercut Y-Wing with Stand
thingiverse
I designed this model on a similar scale to those created by tseaman87, available at http://www.thingiverse.com/tseaman87/about. Assembly instructions have been added for clarity. The internal engine components are numbered from front to back to simplify the assembly process. To start, insert the largest internal engine piece, consisting of two parts, with its arrow pointing towards the nose of the engine. This part should be positioned first, as it will serve as a reference point during assembly. The body of the Astromech Droid acts as a support structure, providing stability and alignment for the three main body components while the glue dries. The cockpit consists of three separate pieces; the central piece passes through all three layers of the body and features a notch where the turret gun can be mounted. Be cautious when placing the side pieces, as they have windows that require precise positioning. If desired, you can attach the model to the stand, but I prefer to leave it loose so I can easily remove it and make space ship sounds while pretending to fly.
