Instead of 3D printing the X-axis tensioner from the original file, I opted for a quicker method by utilizing my membership at Baltimore's hackerspace and their lasercutter. This allowed me to tension the piece before starting any printing process. In fact, I decided to re-cut all of my printer's panels in acrylic, which not only looks fantastic but also avoids shrinkage or swelling issues. Although varnishing wood was an option, I felt that the laser-cut acrylic looked much better. Using redlaser software, I imported the DXF file and had it cut from 1/4" acrylic purchased at Home Depot.
