Lasercut tiles for Settlers of Catan
thingiverse
This item replaces Settlers of Catan's hexagonal tiles with interlocking ones. It includes 19 pieces for the basic set and tokens representing ports. The CDR files are compatible with CorelDraw X5, X3, and Inkscape. The design requires two laser cutting passes: an etching phase of about 45 minutes and a cutting phase of 15 minutes on an Epilog Helix. The "raster" layer contains vectors that must be converted to bitmaps for proper etching. A suggested build process includes material selection, testing a token cutout, consolidating the rasters layer into a single bitmap, deleting the NOTES layer, and laser cutting. Extra credit ideas include printing colorful images on glued-on paper or using different acrylic colors for game pieces. Suggestions for improved artwork are welcome. Flattr support is optional.
