Lasercut-Template for Hasselblad 500 EL/M Body Leatherette
thingiverse
Create your own real leather replacement for a Hasselblad 500 EL/M's body by following these steps. After winning an auction for a functioning Hasselblad 500EL/M, I replaced its fake-leather with authentic leather sourced from a local tannery. Measurements were taken using a ruler and Inkscape was used to recreate the dimensions and shapes as templates for laser cutting. After multiple paper tests, the laser-cut leather pieces were glued onto the camera using All-Purpose glue (UHU). The front piece still needs refinement; feel free to adjust the parts based on your camera's specifications and share improvements or issues for further enhancements. When lasercutting thin leather, secure it to a MDF board with double-sided tape to prevent curling, shrinking, or movement during cutting. Lastly, ensure proper ventilation while lasercutting leather, as the process emits an unpleasant odor.
