Lasercut Deckbox with Living Hinge
thingiverse
A 5mm birch plywood deckbox, featuring a living-hinge flap, can be crafted using a 60-watt ULS laser at ATX Hackerspace. The box is designed to hold 75 or more sleeved Magic: The Gathering cards. To create this item, load the required wood into the laser cutter and run the designated file. Laser settings may vary depending on the machine and materials used. For the ULS at ATX Hackerspace, I utilized a speed of 2.5% and power of 90% for cutting and 100% speed with 65% power for etching the logo. After cutting, lightly sand the pieces, drill holes in the flap and front piece for magnets, then glue everything together using wood glue. To enhance closing strength and create a satisfying "Clack!" sound, attach a washer to the magnet at the front of the box.
