Lasercut Aussie Christmas Decoration
thingiverse
Australian Christmas decorations feature prominently this time of year, showcasing a tree adorned with festive lights and colorful ornaments. The addition of Santa Claus adds to the whimsy, while a kangaroo mascot hopping into frame injects an Aussie touch, given that reindeer aren't commonly found in Australian landscapes. For this particular decoration, the creators turned to laser-cutting technology using a Chinese K40 model. The cut-out was fashioned from 3mm plywood. Print settings specified not needing rafts for this particular project. Supports also weren't required in this case. A few notes were kept in mind when printing: specifically, using the Chinese K40's power setting at maximum capacity, with an operating speed of ten millimeters per second. After cutting, a small application of face paint glitter applied by dabbing with cotton buds gave the overall piece a hint of sparkle. This Australian Christmas decoration originated from designing with Corel version 12. Since this software was provided alongside the laser cutter purchase, it became an accessible choice. A considerable amount of clip art gathered publicly contributed to forming the shape and content. To strengthen the structure, thickened elements were introduced where thin sections may break easily, thus preventing fragmentation during handling or transport. An assumption of kerf size at 0.1 millimeters allowed designers to widen platform openings appropriately, creating 2.8-millimeter cutouts for 3-millimeter plywood slices.
