Low Cost DIY 3D Printed Stepper Motor Laser XY Scanner - Draw, Cut, Engrave, or Scan Laser XY Scanner is an open source stepper motor based scanner that's easy to build and control. The components used are low cost and very accessible, making it a great project for hobbyists and makers alike. This type of laser scanner may not be extremely fast, but it can still be used in a variety of applications. The circuit is built around an Arduino Nano, which monitors small lever switches for X and Y home detection (minimum travel) and controls ULN2003APG high-current darlington drivers to drive 28BYJ-48 5V Stepper Motors. The system also includes a 12V TTL 1W/1.6W/2W/445nm/450nm Laser Diode LD Driver that drives a 2W 445nm M140 Blue Laser Diode with an AixiZ aluminum mount and heat sink for 12mm modules. The Arduino code can be found in the project repository on GitHub, and there's also an Instructable available at https://www.instructables.com/id/Low-Cost-DIY-Stepper-Motor-Laser-XY-Scanner-Cutter/. A video of the Laser XY Scanner in action is available at https://youtu.be/hbFObc3SvLU.
