The United States Navy's Laser Weapon System, or LaWS, is a cutting-edge directed-energy weapon being developed by the US Navy. Scheduled for field testing on the USS Ponce in late 2013 or early 2014, this innovative system represents a major breakthrough in naval technology. In 2010, Kratos Defense & Security Solutions landed an $11 million contract to spearhead LaWS development, with support from the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) for the U.S. Navy's Directed Energy and Electric Weapon Systems (DE&EWS) program. A pivotal May 2012 NSWC test utilized a CIWS control system to empower the beam director to track its UAV target with precision. High-quality 3D models of LaWS, ideal for close-up renderings, are now available, featuring only TRI and QUAD polygons with correct topology. Laser Weapon System US Navy's - A High-Quality 3D Model This highly detailed model was created in 3ds Max 2011 and also saved to 3ds Max 2010 format, with rendering capabilities in mental ray. Exported in a range of formats, including .fbx, .3ds, and *.obj, the model features default renderers for seamless use. The Laser Weapon System's total texture count is six, comprising five textures of massive size (10241024 px) and one smaller texture (720720 px). For thumbnail renders, mental ray was employed as the preferred renderer. Total Poly Count: The 3D Model Containing 134512 Polygons and 104911 Vertexes Breakdown: - Tris: 1864 (1.78%) - Quads: 102472 (98.21%) - NGons: 0 (0%) - Overlapping Vertices: 0
