Laser Turret
thingiverse
I adore spending quality time with my feline companion, however, I also enjoy lounging on the couch and letting the world go by without lifting a finger. In order to accommodate her hunting instincts, I designed a robot that operates a laser pointer, allowing her to engage in a thrilling game of chase. These three components enable control over the orientation of a compact laser pointer. They provide support for two 28BYJ-48 stepper motors and a laser diode with a cylindrical housing measuring 6.5mm in diameter, similar to those available on eBay at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6mm-5V-Red-Laser-Dot-Diode-Copper-Head-650nm-For-Arduino-Raspberry-PI/263354370619?hash=item3d5124ca3b:m:mDu8i5E2VYlOvw92IJ70sEw. This mount positions the two motors so that their combined center of mass aligns with the central axis at the bottom, or "longitude" motor. The middle joiner may appear a bit slender, but it functions adequately for my purposes. Currently, there are no braking elements incorporated into the design. Perhaps future iterations will include them.
