Laser Tube Cover for the Bluff Packages of ebays K40 Laser Cutters
thingiverse
A lot of K40 laser cutters sold on eBay are fake packages, containing a 600mm laser tube that can't deliver the promised 40W laser power. These tubes have a nominal power of 20W and peak power between 25-35W, making them highly overdriven in the devices, drastically reducing their lifetime. You can see this problem in action at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9hjeLTwPfI . My tube died after just 20 hours. A real 40W laser tube has a length between 700mm and 720mm and won't fit inside the device's case. Luckily, there was a small window on the side of my device where the longer tube could jut through. However, at this point of the tube are the high-voltage connections, which aren't mechanically protected. The cover provided protects this exposed part of the tube and isolates the high-voltage connector, preventing it from being touched. Edit 2018/12/21: If the tube isn't mounted centric to the hole but near the bottom, the cooling water loop will collide with the cover's inner chamfer. In that case, use the longer version of the cover, tubecover_105mm.stl.
