Laser Transit Tripod Adapter
thingiverse
If you've ever wanted to mount a laser transit or similar to a photographic camera tripod, you'll find that the size of the transit socket far exceeds that of a standard camera. I discovered this the hard way, and when searching online for adapters, I was left with disappointing options - either microphone stands/booms with incorrect thread sizes or prohibitively expensive alternatives. Determined to find a solution, I designed and printed my own adapter. While it may not be the most visually appealing design, it functions flawlessly. One potential benefit of this homemade approach is that if the transit is accidentally knocked over, the adapter is likely to break instead of the fragile transit socket - a distinct advantage over more conventional metal adapters, where the socket on my transit is thankfully plastic.
