Human: An adaptation/improvement on www.thingiverse.com/thing:53301, optimized for my K40 cheap Chinese laser. This version is modified: it clears the hinge/lips on my door (my door features a folded metal flange that interfered with the original). It takes steps back behind the mirror and has a positive stop along with a setscrew to adjust the angle, and incorporates a ball-point-pen-spring clip instead of an external spring. Like the other model, when you close the door, this version lifts out of the way of the burning beam. Be sure to lift it up if you're testing with the door open (you can see I added a binder clip for alignment). I've also included an aluminum plate (not pictured) to shield the laser diode from the BFLaser when firing without moving the arm aside. Oh, you want to download, separate, and print the NoCase file—the Case file has many blocks that I used for design, such as a block for where the lid meets the arm, a block for the plane the laser should sit on, and a keepout area where the arm must bend to avoid hitting the mirror when homing. The instructions: my machine uses a cheap 6mm pointer module (amzn.to/1hP4OoM). You can see its layout in my setup—the big target has a ridge that indicates where the laser should be. There's a small pocket in the arm and hinge to accept a ball-point pen spring for a positive position when opened; you might need to file the arm/hinge slightly to ensure smooth action. A 3mm hole allows for a setscrew if you need to adjust the arm angle (since I designed this specifically for my machine, I don't require adjustments). My K40 unit's L bend wasn't level/straight with the bed; adjusting it using vise-grips solved that issue. No supports are needed once you've determined how to lay out each piece—the arm and hinge both feature flat sides. Printing the post in the arm proved easy for my 3D printer since it doesn't project far.
