Laser Filament Monitor housing with Switch for Duet

Laser Filament Monitor housing with Switch for Duet

The Duet Laser Filament Monitor functions exceptionally well with most filaments, but struggles a bit with some. It enables users to connect an additional filament presence switch that can detect out of filament even when precise movement detection using the laser is not feasible for the specific filament used and disabled. I've incorporated a placeholder for a microswitch into the housing design, making it simple to add. I've also extended the distance from the filament centre to the PCB to 9mm, which appears to enhance measurement accuracy. To disable the laser sensor and rely solely on the switch, use the S0 parameter with the M591 command. Don't forget to set P6 to enable the switch (P5 is for the laser filament sensor without an additional switch). Please note that this applies specifically to V1.7 of the PCB and minor changes apply to V2.0. To print successfully, ensure you orient your prints with the inner sides (filament path) facing downwards. You will need supports to support the switch housing.
