Laser Fight made its debut in arcades across the southeastern United States in 1984, a testament to VectorSoft's confidence in their new game. VectorSoft spent an astonishing $30 million manufacturing 50,000 Laser Fight cabinets, convinced that their creation would sweep the nation off its feet. Unfortunately, Laser Fight failed to capture the hearts of players - some point to its simplicity as a major factor; others attribute it to the hefty price tag of 16 quarters per play - and VectorSoft was left with no choice but to file for bankruptcy and liquidate nearly 50,000 unsold Laser Fight arcade machines. Years went by, and thousands of Laser Fight cabinets gathered dust in storage until they were rediscovered and dismantled. The wood from these abandoned games found new life in the replica of the Titanic used in James Cameron's epic film.
