Laser Cut Wire Rack
thingiverse
This wire rack is an ideal solution for storing up to seven inches or even 12-inch spools. It's primarily constructed from 1/4" ABS sheet and 1/2" electrical conduit. The ABS sheet has a textured side and a smooth side, both of which are resilient. The rack can be stacked and bolted together for more storage space, although this hasn't been tested yet. For cutting the ABS sheet, use a speed of 3%, power of 55%, and frequency of 500Hz on an Epilog 35W Mini18 laser cutter. The frame is held together with 1" L-brackets and 1/2" #8-32 bolts, while the handle is a drawer handle from the hardware store, also secured with 1/2" #8-32 bolts. The base comprises two ABS sheets, one with mounting holes and another with wells for screw heads to prevent scratching. These are glued together with ABS cement and attached to the frame using 3/4" #8-32 bolts. Two 16-inch lengths of 1/2" galvanized electrical conduit, cut with a pipe cutter, hold the spools. L-brackets on the outer retaining pieces may be added later for additional stability. Required hardware includes 36x 1/2" #8-32 bolts, 4x 3/4" #8-32 bolts, 16x 1" L-brackets, 40x #8-32 nuts, ABS cement, and a cabinet handle. An additional base can be added for larger spools with substituted bolts. Please feel free to contact the creator for further assistance or laser-cut parts.
