Tried out a variety of materials for the hotend, including J-Head peek, nylon, PU carbon, and all-aluminum options. Finally, I decided to try something different, and the results are very promising. The heating time is fast, and extrusion efficiency has increased by around 20-30%. Initially, with direct drive gear filament, the extrusion speed was set at 160mm/sec in Marlin settings. Now, it's down to 120mm/sec, and I'm still fine-tuning it for optimal print quality. When pulling out the filament while it's still hot, I noticed that the melted filament end tip is shorter than with other hotends. The heat from the aluminum heater block doesn't seem to transfer well up to the hotend body, but the best part is that it's transparent and clear! I've also tested printing with outer perimeters at 30, 40, 50, and 70mm/sec, and the results show that I can push it even further. The faster I print, the smoother the filament extrusion flow becomes. The E motor seems more powerful now, requiring less tension for filament grip at the idler. I've been printing with DIY ABS filament, with a diameter of 2.55 to 3.05mm. If I use better-tolerance filament, the results will be even better. With hair spray and an 80°C heatbed, the ABS sticks very well too! I'll upload and share more videos later. Keep an eye out for updates on our site at http://www.3dprinter.my.
