Laser Cut Spool Holder with bearings
thingiverse
This is a versatile spool holder that uses two 608 bearings to dramatically minimize rolling friction on the spool. To create this, you'll need to laser cut four parts (two Base A and two Base B) from 5.5 mm MDF. If you want a different width, all you have to do is open the Base A DXF file and replace the square slots with your desired width. After cutting the parts, you can assemble them by gluing the four pieces together and then painting the holder. Next, insert the two 3D printed bearing holders into their designated slots. To complete the spool holder, cut a wooden rod that's 8 mm in diameter to approximately 8 cm long, and insert two 608 bearings into the rod. Then, place the rod on top of the bearing holders by inserting the bearings into their respective slots.
