I crafted a modern style table, albeit one that didn't quite meet my expectations. The design is intended for use with 1/8" wood, which I selected in basswood. The legs insert neatly into the tabletop and are secured with glue. The tabletop itself measures 4 inches by 2.8 inches, while the overall width of the table stands at 2.8 inches. I anticipate revising the design to widen the gap between the legs and shorten them significantly - potentially by as much as an inch.
