Laser cut Mendel
thingiverse
Our initial public release features a laser-cut design for the Mendel. All components have been redesigned to accommodate laser cutting. Crafted from 4mm acrylic, this design is the culmination of a master's thesis by Frederic Decru at Ghent University College in Belgium. Peter Van Ransbeeck and Kurt Van Houtte served as co-promoters, while Mathias Vermeulen and Batist Leman acted as coaches. The idea was sparked by a lecture from Dr. Adrian Bowyer at the university and a design challenge posed by Bre Pettis of Makerbot. Frederic is pleased to contribute this thesis to the public domain via Thingiverse, where it can be accessed alongside the manual and part list. As this version remains in development, users are encouraged to suggest enhancements and share derivatives. A related video can be found on YouTube, while CorelDraw files are available online.
