A small model of a land yacht with adjustable sail is cut from 3.2 mm MDF laser technology. The dxf prints as a break-out kit for easy transportation before assembly takes place. Made specifically for a sailing themed day at Inspiria Science Center, this project brings fun to hands-on activities. An onboard frame allows small heavy objects like coins or keys to balance the yacht when in use. As needed, a small movable block is attached to the boom with string to adjust the sail height. With correct trim, the yacht sails smoothly into the wind if done correctly. Instructions are required along with materials. To assemble this kit, you'll need 3.2 mm MDF, paper or fabric for sail material, glue, string or wire for support and a few inches of bamboo skewers as mast, boom and axles. You will also need rubber bands to line the wheels for better traction. Cutting excess rubber from the wheels is an easy task using a mountain bicycle wheel inner tube that's cut across its width first. There are multilingual pictures showing instructions for basic yacht construction with jib setup available in the file section, and the real fun lies in rigging and experimenting. So have some fun building your very own land sail yacht.
