Laser-cut iPhone/iPod Dock
thingiverse
This dock is crafted from four acrylic slices measuring 0.22 inches wide and 0.25 inches thick. The top two slices feature oval openings that snugly hold the iPod connector in place through friction. The third slice includes a channel for the cable to exit at the back, while the bottom slice prevents the cable from slipping out and provides some resistance when inserting an iPhone. These parts are fastened together using four 1-inch 2-56 machine screws and nuts. To avoid scratching surfaces, hot glue feet were added to the underside of each nut. Although an additional top layer for lateral iPhone support was initially considered, it was not implemented due to insufficient screw length. However, longer screws in future could result in a larger dock that encompasses the iPhone's base, enhancing stability.
