I source 2.66mm plywood from Home Depot, purchasing full 4'x8' sheets that I subsequently cut into precision-cut pieces suitable for laser engraving. This material is commonly referred to as door skin. Its design accommodates a 20mm diameter dowel but can also accept smaller sizes with ease. When working with my K-40 laser, I operate at 50% power and maintain a speed of 8mm/sec.
