Design work by Aaron Becker and Rahul Korpu This oversized trebuchet features rolling wheels for effortless transportation, as well as a hinged counterweight basket. It's designed to be cut out of 1/8-inch plywood that measures 1x1 feet. The files were edited in Inkscape, and the original SVG file is included: Trebuchet_scaledVx.svg. A catapult known as a trebuchet (French trébuchet) was used as a siege engine during the Middle Ages. It's sometimes called a counterweight trebuchet or counterpoise trebuchet to distinguish it from an earlier device called the traction trebuchet, which employed men working the mechanism by pulling. The counterweight trebuchet appeared in both Christian and Muslim lands around the Mediterranean Sea in the 12th century. It could launch projectiles weighing up to 350 pounds (160 kilograms) at or into enemy fortifications. Its use continued into the 15th century, even after gunpowder was introduced.
