Laser Cut Chess Board with Compass Rose Inlay

This 14.5-inch chessboard showcases a striking compass rose centerpiece, crafted from four distinct hardwoods as depicted in the concept image. The vibrant sample board was meticulously assembled using four different hues of hardcard, adhered to a foamcore base. However, I discovered that attaching the central ring's triangular wood segments was quite challenging and time-consuming. In future projects, I recommend simplifying this area with a solid color design. Post-cutting, secure the pieces onto another wooden base for finishing touches; alternatively, clamping them between plexiglass layers produces an eye-catching result (photos unavailable).
