This modified MintyBoost adapter is designed for a standard-sized Altoids tin, which accommodates four AA batteries and battery holders from Radio Shack. The acrylic adaptor consists of three 1/8" plates sandwiched between two 3/16" ones. Assemble the acrylic pieces within the Altoids tin, ensuring holes align, then drill through them from below using a 1/8" bit. If you prefer, you can use the smaller-holed template and tap the holes for 4-40 screws instead of relying on washers and nuts. This adapter provides a solid base for the MintyBoost, allowing easy plugging or removal of the USB cable without damaging the PCB.
